Facilities
Benhome Hostel is an eclectic mixture of architectural styles, however the goal is for every resident of the facility to feel at home at all times and to be provided with the quality of life that they deserve.
Whilst the facility is classed as a hostel it is out ethos here it Maitland benevolent society Inc to provide ageing in place which essentially means so long as our equipment and staff are able to care for a resident we will.
All staff of the facility qualified and hold necessary certification for the areas they are employed in there is ongoing training staff and staff are encouraged to a defensive skills.
Benhome has being HACCP accredited for its food safety program since the year 2000; we have also always maintained a high standard in the facilities annual infection control audit conducted by an outside body.
We have a number of activities officers on staff to provide a wide range of activities that support continued enjoyment that resident’s skills hobbies and special interests. There always at least a monthly concert and regular bus outings residents.
We also have an a physiotherapist and physio assistant on staff who work with the residents be cheaper these and care staff to develop exercise programs so that the residents are able to maintain their independence from as long as possible.
Dementia unit.
Rose cottage is our state of the art 15 bed dementia specific unit and is located in the Eidler wing. This wing has recently undergone an upgrade which was completed July 2008. The unit has a modern dementia specific alert system that allows staff to be aware of residents locations at all times. The unit also provides a secure environment the residents to enjoy the outdoors. This unit is staffed by well-trained carers who have received continue to receive ongoing training in dementia.
Respite Services
Benhome has an annual allocation of 730 their days per financial year to provide respite services to the community. All bookings for this service conducted three of the carer respite centre. 1800 059 059
